Following are links to industry programs that support and promote independent optometry. Do you know a good program that should be included? Please share your suggestions at  comments@optometry2020.com

Vision One Credit Union

The nationwide Vision Loans program provides loans to private-practice eye doctors for partnership buy-ins, practice purchases, down payments, new associate salaries; and to help practices purchase OfficeMate software, services from Eye Designs and equipment for finishing lenses in their office. VSP and Essilor’s additional contributions of $10 million expand the program funding to $58 million and are important in the continued success and growth of private practice eyecare.

Eyeseek

Free website created to help established VSP doctors connect with optometrists seeking opportunities in private practice. Optometrists looking for employment in a private practice setting can register for EyeSeek at vspglobal.com. We then try to match candidates to employment opportunities that have been submitted offline by private practice doctors. There is also a section at EyeSeek where doctors looking to own a practice can search purchase opportunities.

Private Practice Clubs

VSP supports Private Practice or Practice Management Clubs at all 20 U.S. optometry schools. These student organizations provide an added layer of business education for students who plan to be business owners following graduation. In addition, VSP invests in leadership training and support for officers of the clubs who have formed a national networking organization called the Private Practice Solution. The national student leadership group meets four times a year and exists to support individual clubs at the colleges with centralized resources including a speaker’s bureau and online social networking.
